The War is on!

It's day three of penny wars, and we are in the negatives as of this morning! We told our students to bring a ton of pennies to class today, and one students brought a whole Tupperware full of pennies! Hopefully that brought our score back up! For the morning, I was on my own because Mrs. Palmer had a doctor's appointment. This morning went well! A student from Carthage came to observe as part of his clinical class, and will be here twice a week to build rapport with the students. After gym class, the students came back to the room so I only had half a special. For this time, the students were on the laptops working on IXL. After the students were done on the laptops, Mrs. Palmer had to teach the students about ALICE training. This is where the students learn what to do if there is an intruder in the classroom. Since this lesson had to be taught by Mrs. Palmer, I observed for this hour.

After lunch, it was a pretty typical afternoon. I led a literacy center (the same one as yesterday) and managed the students as a whole. Mrs. Palmer has really let me be independent with management and teaching, and it is starting to become easier! To end the day, we had Social Studies. Since the students have a test coming up, we spent the time studying. I created a Kahoot quiz for the students to work on, then they wrote a journal entry on what it would be like as a colonist.

Insect Update: We have two beetles! They're finally starting to change, and our waxworms are starting to become pupae!
